In 2008 hundreds of people from the Southern California area were involved in organizing and / or attending the LA social forum.
The event helped to bring together a wide variety of groups to network, learn and build collaborations to face the big challenges the US and our world faces.
Since that time people involved have continued to run projects and campaigns to improve the community and create social change.
Without a physical forum it is difficult to see and witness the great work people are doing.
We are therefore moving the site from a static web page with only information, to a social networking site that allows for more networking, participation and collaboration.
We invite you to join!
Our vision is to help to support the network of activist in Southern California, to provide a way for people uninvolved in activism with a way to connect to the network of activist in Southern California, and to provide a space where people can share events, project and support one another.
What this new site lets you do:
Add your events or other events
Post videos you have made or that are relevant to the LA Social Forum community
Create a discussion on the forum
Use collaborative software that can be used as a platform for campaigns
Blog your latest project updates
Invite others to join
Add a profile
In general it is a great place to share project or campaign information (everybody is involved in some project or campaign) and network with other people and gain awareness and support for your work.
We expect it will take some time until this new social networking site takes off. We will therefore spend a good proportion of the next six months promoting the new site.
You will be receiving updates about the site every few weeks and one a month. If you do not want to receive these notification you can easily un-subscribe from this list.
Working together, Another World is Possible!
